The Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P. produces a variety of computers and computer accessories for both personal and commercial use. Its mobile computers are divided into laptop, tablet and netbook categories. Although the functionality of these devices vary, the method of cleaning them is the same. Cleaning an HP laptop keyboard is especially important because it often contains dust and crumbs. Over time, this debris builds up in the HP Laptop keyboard and can impact the laptop's functionality if not removed.
Turn off your HP laptop and unplug it from the wall if the charging cord is plugged in. Open the top of the laptop as far as it will go so that you have room to access the keyboard.
Attach the tube that came with the canned air to the end of the nozzle on the air can.
Insert the tip of the tube as close to the side groove of one of the keyboard keys as possible. Press down on the can's nozzle to dispense the air. As the air comes out, direct the air flow down into the keyboard. Move the canned air around the entire perimeter of each key on the HP laptop keyboard.
Plug in a small hand-held vacuum, such as those designed specifically for computers or appliances. Insert a brush attachment onto the end and turn on the vacuum. Move the tip of the brush along the entire surface of the keyboard. This will pick up any crumbs that were dislodged, as well as suck out any additional debris.
Wet a cloth with water and squeeze the cloth out tightly to remove the majority of moisture from it.
Wipe the entire surface of the keyboard with the damp cloth to remove any stubborn stains and body oil that is adhering to the surface.
