What is the future? The both great and annoying thing about the future is that we don't know... but a few people have ideas.
If you ask Nokia and the other cell phone manufacturers, they'll probably tell you that the future is mobile devices. After all, what is handier that whipping out or Blackberry or whatever else might be living in your pocket/phone holster and looking up directions?
Well, Microsoft might say that their new Surface product beats the pants off any cell phone. And by sheer mass, they might be right. This table computer (not table-top) might have some interesting possibilities, but with its $10,000 price tag, it’s probably not coming to a living room near you any time soon.
The Surface has received its share of criticism, as well. This doesn’t quite bring it even with cell phones, which have been the butt of jokes for years.
So where are we going with two such divergent roads of technology laid out before us? The tiny, lightweight, thumb-cramping mobile devices? Or the massive, deeply interactive, expensive, oh-I’m-never-going-to-get-all-the-fingerprints-off table computers? Both?
What do you think?
