Blaise Aguera y Arcas has created the weapon of choice in the digital journalism revolution. His project, Photosynth, stands a very good chance of taking not only newspapers, but the entire internet, for one amazing, wild ride.
Watch Blaise introduce Photosynth and prepare to be blown away.
Advertising has been a balancing act for online journalism since the internet first became a viable medium for news. In order to get prime screen real estate, many advertisers have invested in pop-ups, half-page ads and mid-story banners. Photosynth may yet make intrusive forms of advertisement a thing of the past. When a user can scroll in to view the add at whatever resolution they like and view all sorts of testimonial and product specifications, ad size relative to the size of the story will become far less important.
The applications in journalism for this kind of technology are staggering. How would you use it?
