PostSubject: Community Journalism   Wed Jun 20, 2007 12:44 pm

It has a few names… community or citizen journalism, user-generated content, participatory content, social media… just to name a few. It has had its validity questioned, citing lack of formal journalistic education, audience bias, and factual inaccuracies. A music review journal may provide valuable insights into musical analysis, but its accuracy is difficult to prove or disprove. Some newspapers have started to integrate user-generated content into their web sites. What place the user videos, comments and opinions have in the newsroom? Should such content be required to pass an editor's desk? Or be uploaded to the web site as it is?
